A participatory system
PGS-India is an organic assurance system built around local groups and peer appraisal. Farmers’ records, inspections and group decisions are part of the process. It differs from third-party certification; the two should not be described as the same thing.
Check the actual document
Look for the named producer or group, covered products, status and validity dates. A logo alone is not enough to check whether a particular product and batch are covered. Ask for a current document if you want to confirm a claim before buying.
What it does not tell you
An organic certificate does not tell you exactly how a tea will taste or establish a caffeine value for a brewed cup. Those are separate questions. Contact Nevisan for the documents associated with the pack you are considering.
