Why We Don't Blend Across Gardens
The tea industry's dirty secret is blending. Most commercial teas mix leaves from 20, 30, sometimes 50 different gardens. Why? Because each garden's harvest varies with the seasons — the monsoon flush tastes different from the spring flush, and a dry year produces different flavors from a wet year.
Blending evens out those variations. You get the same taste in every box, every year. But you also get a tea that tastes like nothing in particular — a carefully engineered average with no character, no origin, no story.
At Nevisan, we don't blend across gardens. We use only the leaves from our own garden in Golaghat. Yes, the flavor varies slightly from season to season. The spring flush is brighter, the monsoon flush is deeper, the autumn flush is smoother. But each cup tastes like something real — like a specific place, at a specific time.
We think that's a feature, not a bug. If you want consistency, buy the big brand. If you want character, try Nevisan.
